Mindfulness-Based Resilience Training for Filipino Frontline Workers
We are excited to announce a new partnership between the Centre for Mindfulness Studies, FriendlyCare Foundation, Ateneo de Manila University, and the City of Valenzuela, with the support of the Department of Science and Technology in the Philippines, to launch the Mindfulness-Based Resilience Training for Filipino Frontline Workers. This initiative aims to support the mental well-being of firefighters, police officers, healthcare workers, and disaster responders who face high levels of stress and burnout in their essential roles.
About the Project
Frontline workers are at an increased risk of emotional exhaustion and mental health challenges due to the demands of their work. This program will introduce evidence-based mindfulness and resilience strategies tailored to the Filipino context and integrate cultural strengths and coping mechanisms.
The program will be developed and piloted in Valenzuela City, Philippines, with the goal of creating a scalable, long-term mental health support system for frontline workers across the country. Participants will engage in mindfulness exercises, cognitive-behavioural strategies, and group discussions designed to enhance stress management, emotional regulation, and overall well-being.
Our Goals
- Develop and pilot a culturally adapted resilience training program for frontline workers.
- Enhance stress management and emotional well-being through mindfulness-based techniques.
- Foster peer support and workplace resilience, creating stronger, healthier frontline teams.
- Lay the groundwork for national implementation, with potential policy integration for long-term sustainability.
Looking Ahead
As we move forward with program development, we look forward to working closely with our partners, frontline workers, and community leaders to refine and implement this initiative. This is an important step toward ensuring that those who dedicate their lives to serving others receive the mental health support they deserve.
Stay tuned for updates as we begin this important work.
